Field Notes
Best Window
Arrive 1–2 hours before low tide. The lower the number, the more beach exposed and the better the dig.
Clam Shows
Watch for small dimples or keyhole shapes in wet sand. Dig fast — they go deep in seconds.
Evening Tides
Winter minus tides often fall after dark. Bring a headlamp — a true PNW family tradition.
What to Bring
Clam gun or shovel, mesh bag, ODFW license, rubber boots. Check local gear restrictions first.
