Field Notes
Cannon Beach Note
Cannon Beach shares NOAA tide timing with Seaside — tides run nearly identical. Both are excellent options on the same dig day.
Short Sands
Short Sands (Smugglers Cove) is a secluded option south of Cannon Beach — worth the hike in, especially on busy summer weekends.
Best Window
Arrive 1–2 hours before low tide. The lower the number, the more beach exposed and the better the dig.
What to Bring
Clam gun or shovel, mesh bag, ODFW license, rubber boots. Check local gear restrictions before heading out.
